Tiles are now presented on sale in various forms of shapes, sizes and colors. This is done as follows: the area of ​​the room, which is planned to be covered with tiles, is measured and is divided by the size of the tile to be purchased. Another 10-15% is added to the resulting number. When purchasing tiles, you should pay attention to the fact that the article, sizes, the number of tiles, the year of their release and even the shift tiles written on the packaging boxes, coincided with this tile. Otherwise, it may happen that even the same ones with appearance of the tiles will have a small difference in size and thickness, which, in the end, will create significant difficulties when laying it.

For laying tiles, no special specific skills are required. Before proceeding to it, it is advisable to fulfill some simple recommendations. First, you need to check the horizontality and humidity of the base. If necessary, a primer is applied to it and waterproofing is done. After the base is completely dry, choose a laying pattern. To do this, on a piece of paper in a cell, where each cell is considered a tile, with the help of painting, a diagram is drawn, according to which the reference lines of the cladding are determined. They are projected onto the floor, and, in accordance with the received direction, the tiles are glued.

Square tiles of the same size are usually laid in straight and diagonal ways. The direct method of laying tiles is divided into laying butt-to-butt or staggered.

If a plain tile is laid in such ways, in order for it to look better, tiles should be purchased as large as possible. In the event that it is planned to lay tiles joint to joint, the best option would be the names of the direct method of laying it.

The diagonal way of laying tiles is also quite popular. The tile laid out in this way looks better, but in the process of work it will have to be cut, which creates some additional difficulties.

The most common type of tile laying is butt-to-butt, when the width of the seam between adjacent tiles does not exceed two millimeters. Tiles of different colors can be staggered if the installation does not provide for the selection of a particular pattern, as, for example, in the case of carpet tiles.

With the direct method of laying tiles, the evenness of the cladding pattern is checked as follows: the floor is divided into four equal parts, pulling cords from each corner. Rows of tiles must go in strict accordance with the directions of the cords.

With the diagonal method, additional reference lines are added to the drawing, which are drawn at an angle of 45 ° from the center of the room to the walls. To do this, cords are pulled from the center of the two longest walls. They are fixed on nails driven in the center of the room and at the middle of the walls. Testing is being done along these lines. If it meets all requirements, the tile is glued. The flooring is carried out from the point of intersection of the cords along the quarters of the floor.
