Installation of metal-plastic windows » the main stages of installation

How does the installation of metal-plastic windows in the apartment begin?? From the call of the measurer. Unless, of course, your plans include doing the whole process with your own hands. It is this specialist who will not only take all the necessary dimensions, but also assess the complexity of the future installation of window structures. Based on the measurements made, the corresponding designs are made and delivered to the customer at home. Usually on the day of delivery, the performers start work. If it is planned to “modernize” the entire apartment, then the process can take up to two days:

1st day – removal of frames of old structures, installation of new ones, as well as ebbs;

Day 2 – checking fittings, sealing joints, installing window sills.

In other words, on the first day they do all the rough work, and on the second they do the finishing.

More about the stages of work

Competent installation of metal-plastic windows consists of the following steps:

preparation;

installation of new window structures;

closing of openings.

The first stage is the longest. It may take 4 days, or it may take 4 weeks. In the first case, it means ordering a PVC profile, in the second – a wooden or aluminum profile. At this stage, measurements are taken, which has already been mentioned above. The task of the customer is to determine the model of products. Next, the cost of work is agreed, the contract is signed and the customer makes an advance payment (or the full cost of the installation process).

The second stage starts from the moment the new structures are delivered to the customer’s home. Usually, the “processing” of one opening can take about 4 hours. During this time, the old frame is removed from the window opening (it is advisable to remove the window sashes by this time), and the new product is freed from double-glazed windows. The insertion of a new frame into the opening is carried out using a plumb line and a level. Further along the perimeter of the opening, holes are drilled, in which fasteners will be placed in the future. When this occupation is over, the installers move on to waterproofing slopes and openings. For this purpose, they use special tapes. Only after that, the new frame can be fixed with self-tapping screws, as well as anchor bolts. Now it’s time to put the double-glazed windows back in their places. The joints between the plane of the wall and the frame are filled with foam, an ebb is placed (outer window sill).

Sealing openings – the third stage – takes about two hours. It is advisable to perform it as the foam has dried. At this stage, the fittings are also adjusted and the inner window sill is arranged. The joints themselves are plastered both outside and inside. And only now you can begin to improve the slopes.

The last step is to remove the protective film from the profile. By the way, experts do not recommend too much delay with this matter. “Processing” the film with rain and sun will not pass without a trace – it will be very difficult to remove.

Common Mistakes

Professional performers do not allow them in their work. Most often, the error is typical for cases when a person decided that the installation procedure is so simple that it makes no sense for someone to pay for it. As a result, there may be:

inaccurate measurements – you can take a word, the frame of the new design will fall out of the opening. If the miscalculation was small, then several additional plates of a similar profile save the situation. To eliminate a large failure, you will need a wooden frame (hidden type);

incorrect fastening of window structures – for each type of profile (PVC, aluminum), certain types of fasteners are used. For example, an aluminum window structure can only be placed on anchor plates;

incorrect foaming – all areas on which foam has been applied must be protected from exposure to the sun, snow. To do this, they (areas) must either be plastered or painted. In addition, it is necessary to ensure reliable waterproofing of such places. All excess foam must be immediately cut evenly during installation;

incorrectly sealed slopes and improperly equipped ebbs – lack of experience still affects.
