Robot – fiction of a science fiction writer or a real intelligent automaton?

The word robot comes from the Czech word robot, which is borrowed from the sci-fi play R. At.R.”, written by K. Chapek, back in 1920. The play is about a factory that produces artificial people. Such a labor force, devoid of desires and needs, has only skills and knowledge, it skillfully performs its work and is happy to serve people. Throughout the play, the question is raised: is it possible to exploit robots for the sake of humanity (robota – forced labor, hard work, corvée)?

The play was a huge success, and as a result – there was a widespread popularization of the above term. It has long been known that many science fiction writers created prophetic things in their works. So, the current technology of creating robots and the demand for labor have the same philosophy: humanity needs automata beings whose design repeats the structure of the human body and uses its capabilities.

The term “robot” is now used in all languages of the world. There is no need to explain its meaning, since it is widely used in the general literary and technical lexicon. So, the inexhaustible invention of the science fiction writer laid the foundation for the existence of a humanoid automaton – a robotic arm that has a different degree of intelligence and is used for different tasks. It is used both on land and under water, is controlled by a human operator or is an autonomous “intelligent” device.

At the moment, you can buy a robotic arm to modernize any technological process – both for an automatic line and for small-scale production. Mostly, robotic manipulators are in demand in mechanical engineering, namely, in workshops with harmful and dangerous working conditions.

It is clear that the task of any engineering industry is the maximum automation of each production cycle. But, the issue of automation is precisely the final stage of production, where monotonous manual labor is still used is considered primary. Since the human factor prevails during manual assembly, the accuracy and accuracy of such production depends on many external conditions. Assembly robots, as accurately and qualitatively, are capable of performing the entire assembly process, which will subsequently have a direct impact on the safety of manage and use by a person of various mechanisms and machines. The use of assembly robots at any assembly stage – completely eliminates any errors and marriage in work, which, sometimes, sins manual labor.

As an example, whole automated lines for assembling the main nodes are involved in the automotive industry. The working cycle of the head of the cylinder block includes eighty parts. One hundred and twenty heads per hour – the final productivity of such a robotic line. Similarly, the assembly of other nodes is carried out.

In the event of a production need, assembly manipulators are easily readjusted by means of a quick change of universal modules. Program control systems, which are equipped with automatic assembly lines, can increase labor efficiency dozens of times. In addition to these advantages, there is an obvious gain in reducing the cost of production, along with an indisputable increase in the quality of assembly of parts. In mass production – assembly robots are the main driving force. Currently, the development of assembly machines of the third generation, referred to as intelligent robots, is underway, which will allow solving the issues of complex robotization at absolutely all stages of production.
