Types of lawns – gardening and landscaping

The lawn is a uniform cover, consisting, as a rule, only of perennial plants. These rugs are very popular in Europe. They have received special use in the UK, where this is facilitated by a mild climate with heavy rainfall. In Russia, lawns have been used since the 17th century, but, unfortunately, in those days this fashion was far from perfect.

All types of lawns can be divided into several large groups:

• Parterre. Such lawns, as a rule, are distinguished by emerald greens. When drawing up a flower arrangement, the lawn area should be relatively larger. For parterre lawns, it is best to use grasses with the ability to grow back quickly after mowing. For such a lawn, herbs such as a rope pasture, an ordinary or white -white field, meadow. However, do not forget about the disadvantages of such a lawn:

– He does not tolerate trampling (you should not walk on it);

– Sod or seeds for such a lawn are much more expensive than for an ordinary one;

– Such a lawn requires careful and regular care;

– Plant seeds germinate and grow very slowly.

• Lugovoi. Lawns of this group are used for sowing a vast area. As a rule, meadow lawns are created in forest parks or recreation parks. Grasses on these lawns are treated much less frequently.

• Sports. This lawn is located on soils with a high content of humus, t.to. its coating must be so resilient as to withstand constant trampling. With regular mowing (at least once a week), the lawn endures constant loads.

• Gardening. The lawn has a dense grassy cover. Because of this, the surface is quickly restored. On the lawn you can not only walk, but also ride a bicycle. The main advantage of such a lawn is longevity and winter hardiness. Seeds are much cheaper, and they germinate much faster. You can see the cost of rolled lawn here. The disadvantages of such a lawn:

– Grass grows faster in spring and summer, so maintenance is required;

– The grass does not look velvety, like, say, parterre lawn.

The following herbs are used for the garden-parterre lawn: oak and meadow bluegrass, meadow timothy grass, perennial ryegrass.

• Mauritanian is a mixture of cereals and beautiful flowering perennials. Such a lawn remains lush until late autumn. Mow only after the plants have flowered and discarded their seeds. Flowers for the lawn are selected with a different flowering period. This is done so that the lawn always looks in bloom, giving the appearance of a real meadow. For the Mauritanian lawn, the following herbs are used: a mixture of cereal plants (fescue, ryegrass, bent grass) and beautifully flowering perennials (cornflower, iberis, bluebell, phacelia, poppy, calendula, purslane, flax, nasturtium, forget-me-not, gypsophila).
